McCloud & Truex — “Joy to the World”
McCloud & Truex brings together the expressive guitar and vocals of Caspar McCloud with the lyrical violin and vocals of Renae Truex. A former Atlantic Records artist, pastor and author, McCloud brings decades of musical experience to a partnership shaped by their shared faith in Jesus Christ and anointed musical chemistry.
Known for their dynamic performances with The Caspar McCloud Band, the duo also reveals a more intimate side through their instrumental albums, Outstanding in Their Field, Volumes 1 and 2. Their acoustic arrangements allow guitar and violin to converse with warmth, sensitivity and virtuoso flair.
Their recording of “Joy to the World” grew from an invitation to perform for a Texas ministry’s Christmas special. The enthusiastic response inspired them to release their acoustic interpretation as a single. Speaking with Louder Than The Music, McCloud and Truex described their desire to honour the true meaning of Christmas and share the joy, peace and assurance found in Christ throughout the year.
Their instrumental recordings have earned high praise from British Christian music publication Never for Nothing. Reviewer Geoff Howlett awarded Outstanding in Their Field 9/10, writing, “The violin and acoustic guitar are a perfect match for each other.” Volume 2 also received 9/10, with Howlett describing the music as “first class” and recognising the duo’s virtuoso talents.
That musical chemistry also helps define The Caspar McCloud Band, which features Kenneth Ray Bentley on bass and Michael Adams on drums. The band’s album Beyond Magnificent received 10/10 from Never for Nothing, with praise for McCloud’s distinctive guitar work, Truex’s melodic violin and the entire ensemble’s musical and spiritual conviction.
The band is also featured in the rockumentary Stay Awake America, while its live recording of the title song is gaining airplay on a number of FM radio stations, extending the reach of its music and message.
With “Joy to the World”, McCloud & Truex invites listeners to celebrate the Saviour through a beloved carol—a heartfelt expression of musical friendship, faith and the enduring hope found in Jesus Christ.
